PCGS is a 501c3 not-for-profit cultural organization. All donations are tax deductible. Fiscal year ending on August 31, 2017.

The Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society offers two possible ensembles in which PCGS members may enroll.

This ensemble is open to all PCGS members.  The ensemble will rehearse monthly prior to PCGS Salons and will perform on PCGS Salons.

This ensemble is an opportunity for performers of all levels to perform with other guitarists and gain valuable performance experience as well as camaraderie within our PCGS community.

Inquiries for joining this ensemble can be directed to webmaster@phillyguitar.com

The new PCGS Concert Ensemble, under the direction of Kathleen Mayes, is being created as an auditioned, professional-level, performing guitar ensemble.  The ensemble/orchestra will specialize in performing exciting and colorful works composed or arranged for multiple guitars.  It will be committed to providing a valuable ensemble experience for guitarists of diverse backgrounds, while maintaining musical excellence.   The Ensemble hopes to hold multiple concerts throughout the community to create an appreciation for and expand the audience base of classical guitar music.

Auditions will be arranged by appointment with the Director throughout the season. To schedule an audition, send an email to Kathleen Mayes at mayeskl@comcast.net.  Membership is open to qualified guitarists who meet audition requirements and are members of the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society.  Applicants will be expected to perform sample passages from guitar ensemble repertoire and to demonstrate proficiency in sight-reading. The repertoire samples will be provided in advance to allow preparation before the audition.

Rehearsals of the PCGS Concert Ensemble will be held on PCGS Concert days from 12:00 to 1:30 at Settlement Music School. There will also be mandatory section rehearsals organized by the Director.  Ensemble members will be responsible for arriving at all rehearsals on time and fully prepared and will be required to purchase the music played each season.

If you are interested in participating or have any questions send correspondence to Kathleen Mayes at mayeskl@comcast.net
